Inform to silence? Or, educate to organize?
As professional journalists, some of us are bound to ask this crucial question. And when we did, we concluded that the differences between peoples' media and corporate media have not yet been addressed towards establishment of a new world media order. At the best, sophisticated academic researches have been conducted to meet their obligations to inform the Power of the tension, and consequently to suggest ways to silence the alternatives.
No amount of reforms or adjustments will suffice if we aim at replacing the current ownership structure controlling cultural means of productions. Media monopolies are characteristic of market capitalism and no amendments by degree will ever alter imperialistic designs. Instead, we must strive towards supporting every effort to replace the privately and commercially owned media, and restore the power of the press back to where it belongs: the peoples.
Especially crucial is the need to accelerate growth and dissemination of Underground Radical Press as well as subvert the liberal nature of well-meaning alternatives to such an extent so as to encourage the mainstream to deeply introspect the positions of privileges and use every available tool towards the creation of a progressive, socialist, internationalist society.
